Vacation

Paul and I went on a small vacation this weekend. It was a beautiful and amazing place where electronic gadgets do not always work. Only certain cell phone carriers can get through. Needless to say, ours do not work in this peaceful place. I did sneak in a few 10 cents a minute hook-ups to the internet to check my email, being addicted to the internet…

This place is anyone’s haven. I spent the mornings waiting for the sun to rise over sugar and milk overdosed coffee, and awaited the sunsets while slurping down the best raw oysters in the world. What a wonderful place to spend the weekend. Cedar Key is truly a Florida gem.

Don’t worry, those who sent in submissions, we got them. And spending a weekend away with the love of my life didn’t stop me from working on Sage at all. I finished the cover design and began working on the featured writer’s, Rob Rosen, page.

Keep sending in submissions.

Another New Staffer

We have added Marie Poulos to the staff as a copy desk editor.

I’ve worked with her before on a college literary magazine last year. Great talent for finding gifted writing and art. She’ll be on board starting with the first issue, helping with final editing as well as her valued opinions on other things.

Welcome Marie!

Musings: Resonating Places
Issue 3
Featured Writer: Janet Butler

Featured writer/artist positions are still available on several themes.
Submit 1-2 short stories or essays(fiction or non-fiction), 6-10 poems, or 6-10 photos along with the theme to apply for featured writer/artist positions.

If you have a theme suggestion, send it along with you work for our consideration.

Happy Writing!

Paul

Theme Ideas

A couple of theme ideas have arrived after reviewing some of the submissions from the last month.

Sheri Watson Suggested a "dialogue" theme.
We have come up with Dialogue: Musical Voices
We also have had a few submissions dealing with "place," more so than Soul Searching. Thus, Musings: Resonating Places was born.
As we come up with theme ideas, or if our contributors or passers by suggest themes, we will post them to let you know our plans.

The staff had a meeting this past weekend and made some preliminary choices on submissions. Those who submitted before 2/1/2005 will be hearing from us this week regarding the decisions made.

Many of our staff are writers and know how nerve racking it can be to wait the weeks and months to hear from editors regarding their work. Our plan is to periodically go through submissions during the submission period in order to alleviate long waits for acceptance or non-acceptance.

All accepted writers and artists will have an opportunity to look over their pages before official posting into the magazine. We also would like to expand our biography section of the magazine to include photos of our writers.

Have a great week!

Updates for today

Hi,

We've added a new artist link to the artists page, giving us four links to artists pages under G, P, R, and S .
On the freeware page, we added a few new freeware links for writers. A lot of interesting and helpful programs.
We also partnered up with betterwriting.com; a forum for writers to have their works critiqued.
Check them out. http://www.betterwriting.com. A great site for the aspiring writer.

Keep sending in submissions!

The Sage Blog begins

Hi everyone,

This blog will be manily used for updates and new information.

We have updated several aspects of the site with new updates coming in the next two days.

We have added three artists to our artists page with links to their sites, and some new links have been added to the writing help link. We will be posting one new writing help community later today. Also, we have found a few new programs to add to our freeware page. Exciting stuff.

Later this weekend, the staff and I are going to meet to go over the submissions we have received thus far. We have gotten such a great response regarding submissions!
Thank you to all the artists out there submitting your work(s). Without you, we wouldn't be here.

We do need some more photographs and art pieces so keep sending them, and keep sending anything else you feel may apply to any of our themes. The deadline for Soul Foraging: Searching for Self is April 10, 2005.
This is going to be a great first issue thanks to all of you.

The staff and I will try to make some preliminary decisions this weekend and let some of our writers know if their submission will be in our first issue a bit earlier than the deadline. Don't fret, we will consider all artists and writers works up until midnight 4-10-2005. We are also going to discuss layout, design, and format for the first magazine. One of our designers has won awards for cover and editing in the state of Florida. So we should have some exciting designs.

We will keep you posted on updates or new ideas.

Have a great week!
